After not having my car all week because it was in the shop (running up a huge bill $$$$) the first thing I am thankful for is my car. Every day I jump in-out, in-out. Loading it with kids, grocery's and the occasional run to Target. I am thankful for my car.
With that said, today I picked up the car from the shop. It had pretty new tires on it, a state inspection and a clean bill of health. I though what a better way to show this car how much I missed it than by taking it to get detailed. So I drove to the nearby car wash. After about 1 hour and 45 min, the car looked awesome. When I went to start the car I got nothing. Dead. I tried again and again, but there was nothing. The battery had died.
On to the second thing that I am thankful for this week my cel phone. I was now 20 min. late to pick up Clara from school. After making several calls to friends, Jason, Joe's Auto Shop and to the preschool we finally got the car started. As I showed up 40 min late to pick up Clara (she was the only one there, alone with the director of the school) I felt so thankful for modern technology. Giving me the ability to communicate with her school so that they did not think I had fallen off the face of the earth.
I guess my #3 would be fast food. Because that was the only thing that would get Clara to not be sad for "forgetting" to pick her up from school. A few quotes from Clara between french fries were:
"I saw all the Mom's come pick up the kids"
"I don't like to be last"
"It makes me feel sad that you forgotted about me"

You had quite a day, didn't you?! Glad it all worked out.
GUILT GUILT GUILT!!! Don't you HATE it when your kids pour out there hearts and you feel GUILTY???? Similar things have happened to me and even though there were unavoidable circumstances, I still feel guilty for my kids THINKING that I forgot them....of course a few times I DID forget them...bad me. Anyway, I just heard from MARCUS who heard from ZACH that you AREN'T MOVING!!!!! What I am wondering is why EVA had to call and ask DILLON if the rumor was true and why she didn't hear this news from SARA!!!!!!!!!! I am very happy that you aren't moving!!!! Even though I didn't hear it from YOU!!!!!! :) I was really bummed when you said you guys were moving...you are such a fun person and your kids are great! I would hate to see you guys go.
Sara,
Seriously, next time if there is a next time, PLEASE CALL ME. I would of run down and picked CLARA up!!!
When Maddie started Kindergarden I would often forget to pick her up on those "early release" days, and my car was working just fine! I've decided the occasional late pick up is good, it makes our kids appreciate all the times we do show up.
Loved that post Sara. Way to make fun with not fun. Life indeed. Filled with fun with a bit of unfun sprinked just to keep things real. Miss you!
Don't start being tankful on the blog too often, some days it is just hard to keep up :), but then again I am sure you could do it.
